Andrew J. Leist is an audio & video engineer. He currently works for the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. He also does freelance work, usually recording music, sometimes composing or doing audio post. He has worked in DVD post-production on projects featuring Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Dave Koz & Phil Perry, and The Metropolitan Opera.
He has engineered recordings for Surrealestate, Super 300 Blues Band, his own group Inner Lizard, and others. Currently he's recording and playing with Charles, a wonderfully creative, indie band. In 2009 he helped with sound during The Actors' Gang WTF Festival where he worked with Jackson Browne, Tom Morello, Tenacious D, John Doe, Jill Sobule, Ben Gibbard, Serj Tankian, and many others.
He has performed as a guitarist with several groups and recently written music for by Bradley Rand Smith’s play "Daughter".
He currently serves as President of the AVPA Foundation, a 501c3 organization supporting the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts at Culver City High School. He is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, and has been a volunteer representative for NARAS Grammy in the Schools and the Bose "In Harmony with Education" program.
